This time it was Unifem, GermAny that chose 4 women's groups, of a total of 59,
who work in programmes against violence and to promote peace in the world.
The 1st prize goes to "the brave women from the Popular Feminine
Organization" de Barrancabermeja, Colombia.
Those same ones that last August hosted the International Women's March for
PeAce, in Barrancabermeja, right in the middle of the Colombian armed conflict.
And the Loucas were there together with 3.000 women! Bravo compañeras!
The 2nd prize goes to the Loucas, and 2 more groups of women from Egypt
and Nepal. Each group will receive DM.3000.
The award-giving ceremony is Monday 22/10/01 in Bonn.
Marly Borges, our louca from Berlin and Tina Kleiber from Ação para
um Mundo Solidário, that has supported our work since 1996, will be
representing us.
